Pranayama Class

Today I attended a class on Pranayama. “Prana” means Breath or vital energy in the body. “ayama” means control.

So Pranayama is “Control of Breath”. All variations of yoga teach some form of pranayama. In this class, our instructor taught us to know the difference between breathing into our belly, our rib cage area and into our upper chest. We practiced each separately and then with slow movement. We then worked on breathing into our belly, followed by each of the other areas and then back out in the reverse order. Overall the class was awesome.
