Vertebrae of a Pilot Whale

Pilot Whale Vertebrae

We spend a few weeks each summer on the island of Catalina. During those trips, we do a great deal of hiking around the island as there are many trails along the coast. We often find skeletons of creatures but my ste-daughter Zoe wanted to keep this particular bone. It is a Pilot Whale vertebrae. Pilot Whales are a member of the dolphin family, and is second only to the killer whale in size. Their intelligence is equal to that of the bottlenose dolphin which makes them easily trained.
